ROLLER WAVE – LOCAL BOW
• High exit temperature from furnace
• Main reason for over heating the glass are temperature differences created in the beginning of heating and bad edge work and hole finish
• When glass exit temperature starts to get close to 650C glass itself gets softer and thus starts to bend between rollers
• Glass overheating reduces breakages but creates high roller wave
• Improper cutting and grinding quality
• Low cutting and grinding quality leads to need of over heat the glass and thus reduces the optical quality

• Accurate heat control in the beginning of heating
• More control in furnace allows to control heat
more accurately and thus reduces the need to
overheat the glass in the end. • Higher oscillation speed at the end
• New control systems can control the conveying more accurately and with different speeds
• Pay attention to pre-processing quality
• Accurate cutting, grinding and drilling process
will allow to run glasses colder out from furnace and thus improves the roller wave quality
• Roller wave is caused by over heating the glass in 9 cases out of 10
